“God of Mercy and Compassion”

Scripture:  “For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.”  Psalm 86:5 ESV

As we journey through this sacred season of Lent, today Day 24 is a moment to pause and reflect deeply on today’s song “God of Mercy and Compassion” by Rochelle Dsa, to listen, pray, and call upon the Lord, who is always ready to forgive, always full of love, always near.  My heart is stirred by the truth that sin is not always loud or obvious. Sometimes, it’s in the silence of inaction, sins of omission. Other times, it’s in the bold steps we take outside the will and ways of God, sins of commission.  Today, I acknowledge both. I admit my human weaknesses and call upon the Lord for forgiveness and compassion, as the Psalmist does in today’s scripture. I confess the times I’ve remained silent when I should have spoken, stayed still when I should have moved, and wandered when I should have obeyed.  Lent is not simply about giving up something; it is about returning to Someone. Repentance must be a vital part of this journey. It opens the way for renewal and restoration, preparing our hearts for the power and promise of the Easter Resurrection.
