Holy Thursday
“Service and Servanthood”

Scripture:  “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”John 13:14 ESV

Today is Holy Thursday. Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday is a sacred day that invites us into deep remembrance and reflection. On this fourth day of Holy Week, we pause to recall the events of the Last Supper, when Jesus shared a Passover meal with His disciples, established the gift of Holy Communion, and demonstrated radical humility by washing their feet.  The song “For All You’ve Done” by Don Moen reminds us of the importance of service and servanthood as acts of faith and practice.  In this profound act of servanthood, Jesus gave a new teaching, not only with words, but through action. He called His followers then, and now, to serve one another in love and humility.  As we read and reflect on the scripture and these moments, may we be reminded that true discipleship is not measured by status or position, but by our willingness to love, serve, and uplift one another. May we follow Christ’s example with open hearts and hands.
