Sunday Sabbath Devotion

Scripture
“I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and be careful to obey my rules, and keep my Sabbaths holy that they may be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.”
Ezekiel 20:19–20 (ESV)

Devotion
Grace and Peace be with you today.  This Sunday, as the new week begins, God invites us into a sacred pause—a Sabbath. The Lord’s command is not simply to rest, but to set aside all distractions and fix our thoughts on Him. As you prepare your heart for worship, let today become a holy moment of stillness and renewal.  The Sabbath is more than the absence of work; it is an intentional presence with God. By keeping the  Sabbath holy, we enter a sign of our covenant—a reminder that we belong to the Lord, and He is our God. In Jesus’ name, may the Holy Spirit guide you today into a space where your soul is refreshed and your spirit renewed.

Reflection
How can you create moments of stillness today to hear God’s voice?  In what ways might you let go of burdens and distractions, and take Jesus at His invitation: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”?  What does “keeping the Sabbath holy” look like for you in your current season of life? Let your time today not only be about what you set aside, but about what you receive from the LORD, peace, joy, clarity, and closeness to His presence.

Pray
Almighty God,  Thank You for the gift of the Sabbath, a precious sign of Your covenant love. In this sacred pause, I set aside my work and worries to focus on You. Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts, quiet my heart, and renew my spirit. Help me walk in Your statutes, obey Your word, and keep this Sabbath holy, as a sign that I belong to You. May my actions today reflect the beauty of life with You. Refresh my soul that I may worship You in spirit and in truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
