Song Of The Day
Advent Blessings and HOPE
December 1, 2025
Scripture:
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.” Isaiah 9:6-7 ESV
Devotion
Advent opens with the steady light of HOPE, reminding believers that the child promised in Isaiah is the same Jesus who has already come and who will come again. In a world that often feels dark, this prophecy declares a sure future where Christ’s rule is marked by justice, righteousness, and unending peace. Advent HOPE holds together the “already” of Jesus’ first coming and the “not yet” of His final return, assuring hearts that God’s redemptive plan is in motion even when circumstances remain unfinished. This promised Son is Emmanuel, God With Us, who stepped into human suffering, sin, and oppression in order to bring salvation and restoration. As Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace, Jesus reigns now and will one day fully reveal the Kingdom where His justice and peace have no end.
Reflection
Today is a day to reflect on God as Emmanuel, God With Us, who enters the very places that feel weary, burdened, or uncertain. Advent calls believers not only to remember the manger but also to look ahead to the day when Jesus returns to complete what He has begun. Hope in Advent is not wishful thinking; it is a steadfast trust in God’s proven faithfulness and in the finished work of Christ, even while the final consummation of God’s plan is still awaited. As “O Come O Come Emmanuel” is sung, hearts are invited to cry out for God’s presence and to rest in the assurance that the Light has already broken into the darkness.music.
