Hope in the Light of Christ
Scripture
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 (ESV)bibleref+1
Devotion
On this third day of the Advent season, as snow rests gently on the ground, the stillness around us becomes a holy invitation to remember the deep HOPE found in Jesus Christ. Advent is a season of waiting, but it is not an empty or anxious waiting; it is a confident expectation rooted in the One who is our light, our salvation, and the stronghold of our lives. The psalmist declares that because the Lord is light and salvation, fear does not get the final word. This means that even in a world shadowed by brokenness, confusion, and grief, the presence of Christ shines as a steady, guiding light that cannot be overcome by darkness. As you look out at your own surroundings today, snow-covered streets, quiet rooms, or busy schedules—remember that you are deeply blessed, not because everything is perfect, but because Jesus steps into imperfect places with perfect hope. That hope is not mere optimism; it is the assurance that Christ has come, Christ is with us now, and Christ will come again to make all things new.
Reflection
Today’s song, “Come Light Our Hearts,” is a simple, beautiful prayer that echoes the cry of Advent: “Emmanuel, come.” It invites weary souls to wait in stillness before God, trusting that true hope is found not in circumstances, but in His presence that heals, restores, and lights the darkness. The psalmist declares that because the Lord is light and salvation, fear does not get the final word. This means that even in a world shadowed by brokenness, confusion, and grief, the presence of Christ shines as a steady, guiding light that cannot be overcome by darkness. Psalm 27:1 reminds us that when the Lord is our light and salvation, we are held in a security that no fear, season, or struggle can shake. In this Advent moment, consider: In one word or one sentence, what does HOPE mean to you right now, in the very place you stand today

Pray
Lord Jesus, Light of the world, thank You for being my hope in every season, and especially in this Advent time of waiting. You are my light and my salvation; You are the stronghold of my life, and because of You, I do not have to live in fear. Shine Your radiant presence into every place of darkness in my heart, my home, and my community. Show me how to live as a visible example of Your love, bringing hope, healing, and spiritual restoration to those around me. As I listen, reflect, and pray today, fill my heart with a fresh vision of what HOPE in You truly means. Emmanuel, come light our hearts, and let my life testify that You are near. In Your holy name, Jesus, Amen.
