Standing on the Shoulders Of Our Elders

Scripture:  “I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”  Psalm 16:8 ESV

Today’s scripture encourages us to keep the Lord before us in all that we think, say, and do to remind us that our voices matter, our faith is unwavering, and our actions can bring about change. I stand on the shoulders of people such as Mavis Staples. I grew up in South St. Louis City, part of the historic freedom movement.  I watch people of all ages on television with great fascination from human chains, march, and sing songs like today’s song of inspiration: “We Shall Not Be Moved” by Mavis Staples, which inspired me with the understanding of the importance of each person taking action, each in our way, to liberate the oppressed. As I listened to the story and song today, I was convinced to decide what you and I can do to make a difference.  Each day, I will do something to bring joy into another person’s life. Speak truth to those who would devalue anyone’s God-given sacred worth. Never let the world define you as less. Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. Until Christ comes, you and I will
continue the work of Christ daily. Will you join me?
