The Word For Today – Gladness

Scripture
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24 ESV

Devotion – Choosing Gladness on a New Day
Today, I reflect on “Gladness.” On this first Sunday and the first day of February, I intentionally choose gladness as the posture of my heart. Each new day is a sacred invitation from God, a reminder that life itself is a divine gift. Gladness calls me to live with gratitude, to maintain a hopeful and positive spirit, and to find joy in God’s presence, even when life presents challenges.  When I choose gladness, my eyes are opened to God’s purpose at work around me and within me. I give thanks today for life itself, for the beauty of God’s creation, for God’s deliverance, and for the daily opportunity to glorify God in Jesus’ name.  As this month begins, I listen for the gentle prompting of the Holy Spirit. I choose praise. I acknowledge that God is present, active, and worthy of my joy.

Reflection
Gladness is not denial of difficulty; it is a holy awareness that God is faithful in every circumstance.  What does it look like for me to choose gladness today—regardless of circumstances? How might my outlook, words, and actions change if I truly believe this day is God’s intentional gift to me?
