Word for Today – Humility
Scripture
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”Philippians 2:3 ESV
Devotion – Walking in the Way of Humility
Today, I reflect on Humility, the practice of highly esteeming others and prioritizing their needs above my own. To live with Humility means turning away from selfish ambition or pride and choosing instead to value others as more important than ourselves. It calls us to look intentionally for what is good for others, not merely what benefits us. True Humility is not rooted in obligation or self-denial for its own sake; it flows naturally from a heart of genuine love and care. Humility invites us to see Christ in others and to allow0 His character to shine through our actions. We are called to serve with kindness and sincerity, offering help without seeking recognition, praise, or return.
Reflection
When we walk in Humility, our focus shifts away from self-centeredness and toward unity, compassion, and mutual care. This is the way Christ invites His followers to live, through an outward expression of love that strengthens the body of faith and reflects the heart of God. Where might God be inviting me today to release pride and choose humility? How can I more intentionally honor Christ by valuing others and serving with love?
Call to Action
💞Today choose “Humility” over self-interest.
💞Serve someone without expecting recognition.
💞Speak words that uplift and affirm the value of others.
💞Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where pride may be hindering love.
Pray
Gracious God, thank You for the example of humility shown to us through Jesus Christ. Teach me to turn away from selfish ambition and to walk in genuine love and care for others. Help me to see Christ in every person I encounter and to serve with kindness, sincerity, and grace. Shape my heart so that humility flows naturally from my love for You. May my life reflect Your character and strengthen the body of faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
