Word For Today – Still

Scripture
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10 ESV

Devotion – Strength in the Stillness
Today I reflect on the word “Still.” As I prepare for worship with my community, I pause to consider what it truly means to be “Still.” Today’s Scripture calls me to spend intentional time with God, to rest in God’s presence and remember that God is near.  To be “Still” is to shift my focus from personal anxiety to the quiet assurance of God’s supreme control and ultimate victory. It is a divine command to cease striving, release fear, and trust in God’s sovereign power. In a world filled with noise, urgency, and endless demands, being “Still” is a spiritual discipline. It is choosing surrender over struggle and faith over frenzy.  When we are “Still,” we trust that God is in control.

Reflection
When we are “Still,” we find both rest and renewal. Our spirits realign with truth. Our hearts settle into peace. Our  minds become anchored in the promise that God is our refuge and strength. As we accept the call to be “Still,” we open ourselves to the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit, embracing a posture of quiet confidence and surrender.  What would change in my life if I truly stopped striving and fully trusted God’s control?
Where is God inviting me to pause, breathe, and simply rest in divine presence today?

Call to Action

Pray
Gracious and Sovereign God, Teach me to be Still. Quiet my anxious thoughts and calm my restless heart. Help me to cease striving and to trust fully in Your power and presence. Remind me that You are exalted above every circumstance and that You are my refuge and strength. As I prepare for worship and move through this day, anchor me in quiet confidence and holy surrender. Holy Spirit, guide me into deeper trust and renewed peace.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
