Word For Today – Refuge
Scripture
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 ESV
Devotion – Sheltered in the Presence of God
Today, I reflect on the word “Refuge.” God is my “Refuge,” my accessible and ever-present source of protection and power. I stand in awe and humility as I declare this truth. As our “Refuge,” God is unwavering, offering a safe haven in the midst of chaos and strength to meet each new day. Through Jesus, God not only provides a sense of peace, but also resilience—the inner power to endure, to rise, and to overcome, rather than merely escape life’s trials. The Holy Spirit’s guidance and help are not distant or delayed but present and available at every moment. God is always near; we only need to turn our attention toward God.
Reflection
To live knowing God is our “Refuge” is to live anchored, not anxious. It is to face uncertainty with confidence, knowing that we are covered, strengthened, and sustained. Refuge is not retreat from responsibility; it is divine reinforcement for faithful living. In every season, God remains steady, strong, and sure. Where in my life do I need to intentionally run to God as my Refuge instead of relying on my own strength? What would change if I truly believed God is a very present help—right now, in this very moment? How can I pause today and redirect my attention toward God’s nearness?
