Word For Today – Help
Scripture
“As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God!” Psalm 40:17 ESV
Devotion – Help Is On the Way
Today, I reflect on the meaning of “Help.” I openly declare and accept my dependence on God, acknowledging my personal weakness while trusting God’s divine strength to elevate me within God’s plans and purpose. God is my “Help,” my present assistance and my deliverer, empowered to rescue me in times of trouble. I thank God, who is my “Help,” for balancing rescue with restoration and filling me with divine assurance, in Jesus’ name. Even when we feel forgotten or overwhelmed, we can trust that God is mindful of our situation and ready to Help. God does not overlook our pain or dismiss our cries. God takes thought for us. During this sacred Lenten season, we are reminded that acknowledging our need is not weakness; it is faith. To confess that we are “poor and needy” is to position ourselves to receive God’s strength. Through Christ and the daily prompting of the Holy Spirit, God’s “Help” becomes tangible, guiding, correcting, strengthening, and restoring us.
Reflection
Let us be deeply grateful for God’s active, hands-on presence in our daily lives. God’s “Help” is not distant or delayed. It is present, purposeful, and perfectly timed for every circumstance.Where do I need to admit my need for God’s “Help” today? Have I been trying to fix something in my own strength instead of trusting God’s timing? How can I become more aware of God’s active presence in my daily life?
Call to Action

Pray
Gracious and Faithful God, I come before You acknowledging that I am poor and needy without You. Thank You for being my “Help” and my deliverer. Thank You for thinking of me, caring for me, and stepping into my circumstances with rescue and restoration. Teach me to trust Your timing and to rely on Your strength rather than my own. Fill me with divine assurance through Jesus Christ and guide me daily by the Holy Spirit. In this Lenten season, help me to walk humbly, gratefully, and confidently, knowing that Your Help is always near. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
