“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13 ESV
Devotion – Hope for a New Beginning
As we step into a new year, the Word for today is HOPE. Hope is not wishful thinking or optimism based on circumstances, it is a confident assurance rooted in God. God is the source of hope, joy, and peace, freely given through faith and activated by the power of the Holy Spirit. When we trust God, hope does not run dry; it overflows. Hope is not merely a concept, it is a Person. Jesus Christ is our Hope. From the nativity story to the cross and resurrection, Jesus breaks through darkness, offers forgiveness, and brings personal salvation. In Him, despair is replaced with purpose, and uncertainty gives way to peace.
Reflection
As this new year begins, God invites us to anchor our hearts in the living hope found in Christ. No matter what the past year held, today is a fresh beginning. The same God who carried you through yesterday is faithful to lead you forward with hope today. What areas of your life need renewed hope as this new year begins? How would your outlook change if you fully trusted God to fill you with joy and peace through faith?
Call to Action
Speak hope over your life and this new year.
Release fear, regret, and uncertainty to God.
Trust the Holy Spirit to lead you with confidence and peace.
Choose to begin this year believing God’s promises.
Pray
God of hope, thank You for this new beginning. As I step into this new year, fill my heart with joy and peace as I place my trust in You. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to abound in hope, not because of my circumstances, but because of who You are. Anchor my faith in Jesus Christ, my living hope, and lead me forward with confidence, purpose, and peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
