Word For The Day – JOY
Scripture
“Then he said to them, Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 ESV
Devotion – Strength Found in Joy
Today, I declare that true strength comes from finding joy in God, not from circumstances. Joy is a call to celebrate God’s goodness, to share generously, and to draw spiritual power from God’s abiding presence rather than dwelling in sadness or despair. God is our source of resilience and hope. The Joy of the Lord is where deep strength and inner fortitude are found. It is not about chasing temporary happiness, but about resting in a lasting joy that flows from knowing God is with us. When we choose joy in the Lord, it becomes our internal power source—enabling us to overcome sorrow, self-condemnation, and fear. This holy joy sustains and renews us as we enter this new year.
Reflection
As I step into this new year, I pause to consider where my strength truly comes from. Am I drawing strength from changing circumstances, or from the unchanging joy found in God’s presence? Today is a holy day unto the Lord, a reminder to experience God’s nearness, to take time to be holy, and to rejoice in knowing that God is with us.
