Word For Today – Trust

January 07, 2026

Scripture
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5–6 ESV

Devotion – Choosing Trust Over Self-Reliance
Today I reflect on what it means to truly trust God with complete faith and assurance. Trusting God does not mean I have all the answers or full understanding. Instead, it means acknowledging my limited human understanding while fully relying on God in every aspect of my life, in Jesus’ name.  I am reminded that trust is an intentional decision, to lean not on myself, but on God’s promises in Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As I follow God’s leading, I believe my path is made clear, purposeful, and fruitful. In 2026, I choose to surrender self-reliance for divine direction, trusting God’s wisdom above my own and walking forward with confidence in God’s faithfulness.

Reflection
In 2026, choose to surrender self-reliance for divine direction, trusting God’s wisdom above my own and walking forward with confidence in God’s faithfulness.  Ask:  Where am I leaning on my own understanding instead of trusting God? Trust invites me to release control and believe that God is already at work, directing my steps even when I cannot see the full picture.
