Word for Today – Forgiveness

Scripture
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”  Ephesians 4:31–32 ESV

 Devotion – Forgiven to Forgive
Today, I reflect on Forgiveness, what it truly means to forgive as I have been forgiven, as taught by Christ. I recognize that God calls me to live a life marked by forgiveness, kindness, and compassion toward others. Through prayer, I seek to model the same unconditional forgiveness I have received from God through Christ, letting go of bitterness, anger, and malice, as Scripture instructs.

God calls us to active, loving behavior—kindness and tenderness—as a direct response to His gracious forgiveness. When we forgive as Christ forgave us, we open our hearts to healing and restoration in our relationships. The command to forgive in today’s Scripture is grounded in the lavish, undeserved mercy God has shown us in Christ.

Reflection
Forgiveness is not merely a feeling but a daily practice that frees us from resentment and helps us live in peace and wholeness, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  Where might God be inviting me to release bitterness or resentment today? How can forgiving as Christ forgave me bring healing, freedom, and peace—not only to others, but also to my own heart?

Call to Action
🌟Ask God to reveal
any unforgiveness you may be holding onto
🌟Choose Forgiveness, kindness, and tenderheartedness in your words and actions.
🌟Release resentment through prayer, trusting God with justice and healing
🌟Practice Forgiveness as a daily spiritual discipline, not a one-time act in 2026.

Prayer
Gracious and Merciful God, Thank You for the immeasurable Forgiveness You have shown me through Jesus Christ. Help me to let go of bitterness, anger, and malice, and to Forgive others as I have been Forgiven. Shape my heart to be kind, tenderhearted, and compassionate, reflecting Your love in all my relationships. By the power of the Holy Spirit, guide me to walk in Forgiveness each day, so that I may live in peace, freedom, and wholeness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
