Word For Today – Deliverance

Scripture
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17 ESV

Devotion – A Righteous Cry for Deliverance
Today, I pause to reflect on the meaning of “Deliverance.” On this last Monday of January 2026, my heartfelt prayer rises as a righteous cry for God’s “Deliverance” for myself and for all humanity, to turn fully to God for help, wisdom, courage, strength, and holy boldness in these challenging times, in Jesus’ name. We are reminded that God listens attentively and delivers those who call upon God. Faith does not exempt us from trouble, but it assures us that we are never alone. God is our fortress and refuge.
Deliverance may come in different forms: strength to endure, peace in the storm, or ultimate rescue. Each expression of Deliverance reveals God’s faithfulness to those who listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit and turn to God, in the name of Jesus, with expectation and a willingness to act in partnership with God’s will.

Reflection
May today’s Scripture be your daily reminder to replace fear with trust in God’s Deliverance. As we cry out in faith, we rest in the confidence that God hears us and moves on our behalf, sometimes by changing circumstances, and sometimes by changing us with steadfast peace and courage.
