Today’s Song Of Inspiration
Thursday, Day 2 of Lent – March 6, 2025
What Kind of House Am I Building?
Scripture: “Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: ‘Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat—I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how.” Luke 9:23 MSG
On this second day of Lent, I revisit the question asked on Ash Wednesday: What kind of house am I building? Am I constructing a life that reflects the teachings of Jesus, or am I merely assembling something that looks good on the outside but lacks the foundation of faith? Jesus’ words in Luke 9:23 challenge me. If I truly intend to follow Him, I must let Him lead. That means stepping out of the driver’s seat of my life and surrendering to God’s direction. It means embracing challenges, not avoiding them, in the song of inspiration: “On Eagles’ Wings” by Michael Joncas, means trusting that God will equip me for the difficult moments, raising me up like an eagle soaring on the wind of God’s strength. Lent is a journey of refining. It is a time of deep self-examination, stripping away the distractions and false securities that keep me from full dependence on God. Am I willing to behave as one truly sent—not just believing in Jesus but living like Him? Am I prepared to face resistance, knowing that God will empower me to make a world-changing difference? The house I build with my life must be one of faith, obedience, and courage. It must be founded on Christ, the Rock, so that when storms come, I will not be shaken.
Prayer:
Lord, I surrender my plans, my fears, and my need for control. Teach me to embrace the challenges that come with following You. Give me strength to trust Your leading and boldness to live as one sent into the world for Your purpose. Let my life be a house built on the firm foundation of faith, ready to stand strong for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The journey continues…
Blessings and Peace
