Near the Cross: A Reflection on the Power of Redemption

Scripture:  For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”  1 Corinthians 1:18 ESV

Today, I pause to reflect on the cross, that was once a symbol of suffering, punishment, and shame. The world saw it as a means of humiliation and defeat, yet in the hands of God, it became the greatest symbol of love, redemption, and victory. What was meant for evil has been turned on its head, and now we stand in awe of the power that flows from Calvary.  The cross, once an instrument of terror, has become our place of refuge. It is here that we are drawn into the grace of Christ. The old hymn by Fanny Crosby, “Near the Cross” is not just a song but a prayer.  To the world, the cross may seem foolish, an unnecessary burden, or an outdated relic of the past. But to those who believe, it is the very power of God at work. It is at the cross that our sins are forgiven, our burdens are lifted, and our hope is restored.

The journey continues…
Blessings and Peace,
