Day 11 of Lent
“Finding Shelter in the Storm”
Scripture: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'”
Today, I paused to pray for all those affected by the storms, winds, and tornadoes on Friday, including my own community. In moments like these, we are reminded of our deep need for God’s protection and presence. When the winds rage and the waters rise, we are not left to stand alone. Psalm 91:1-2 declares a truth that sustains us and invites us to take refuge in God, not only in times of trouble but as a daily practice. To dwell in His shelter means to live with a continual awareness of His presence. It is an invitation to rest in the security of His love, even when circumstances feel uncertain.
The song “I Need Thee Every Hour” by Rosemary Siemens is a prayerful message of invitation to carry the truth that God is our refuge and that is there for and with us always. Let’s bring before God those who have lost homes, faced destruction, or are struggling to find peace after the storm. Let’s also remember that whether the storm is external or internal, God is our refuge.
Reflection
- Where do you seek shelter when life’s storms come?
- How can you cultivate a deeper trust in God’s presence today?
Prayer
Lord, we need You. In the wake of destruction and uncertainty, be our refuge. Comfort those who have suffered loss, and restore what has been broken. Help us to dwell in Your presence and trust that You are always near. Thank You for Your abiding love, both in times of peace and in life’s challenges. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The journey continues…
Blessings and Peace,
