Day 12 of Lent
“Seeking the Kin-ship of God”

Scripture: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”  Matthew 6:33 ESV

As we continue our Lenten journey, today’s focus is on what it truly means to seek the kin-ship of God, God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. The song “Seek Ye First” by Seek Him Continually expresses today’s focus beautifully.  The word “kin” reminds us that we are not just individual believers but a family of faith, bound together by God’s love. The scripture focuses on kingdom or kin-dom thinking shifts our perspective from personal gain to collective flourishing, from self-centered prayers to God-centered living. Jesus calls us to seek first the kingdom of God, which means aligning our desires with God’s will, trusting that everything  we need will follow. This is not a passive pursuit but an active commitment to righteousness, justice, and love. To seek God’s kingdom is to embody His presence in our words, actions, and relationships. It is choosing to be an agent of action responding to the needs around us, advocating for the voiceless, and extending grace as we have received it. As we seek God during this Lenten journey, may we also be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing heaven’s goodness into our daily lives and the lives of others.

Prayer
Lord, I seek You first today and every day. Align my heart with Yours so that my actions reflect Your kingdom here on earth. Show me how to walk in righteousness, live in love, and serve as an agent of action in my community. May my pursuit of You draw others into the kin-ship of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The journey continues…
Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Monica J
