“Jesus Saves, Even When We Don’t Know We Need Saving”

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:17 ESV

As I reflect on Day 18 of this Lenten journey, I am struck again by the heart of Jesus’ mission: salvation, not condemnation. There’s something humbling and deeply comforting in knowing that Christ came to save even those who didn’t recognize their own need for saving. So often, we go through life thinking we’re managing just fine—unaware of the brokenness we carry, the sins we’ve normalized, or the distance we’ve allowed to grow between us and God. Yet Jesus steps into that unawareness with grace, not judgment. Jesus doesn’t wait for us to “get it together” before offering love. Instead, He meets us in our lostness, extends His hand, and gently invites us into new life.  The song for reflection,“Jes us Saves” by Sunday Babalola, Beacon Minstrel, is a reminder that salvation is already here.  Salvation is not earned through awareness or achievement, it is received through grace. Lent is a time to slow down, reflect, and return. And even if we don’t fully grasp how much we need saving, Jesus does. And He saves anyway.

  • Where in your life have you been trying to “fix yourself” before coming to Jesus?
  • What does it mean to you that He came not to condemn, but to save?
  • Are there areas in your heart where you might be lost and don’t even realize it?

Let today be a moment of surrender. Let grace meet you where you are.  Lord’ in your mercy hear our prayers.

The journey continues…
Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Monica J
