Word For Today – Harvest

Scripture
“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.’”
Matthew 9:37 ESV

 Devotion – Called to Harvest
Today, I reflect on the meaning of “Harvest.” As a follower of Christ, I am called to take part in the “Harvest” and move from apathy to action. The “Harvest” is a divine invitation to go, serve, and share Christ rather than waiting for others to do the work.  Jesus reminds us that many hearts are ready to receive the good news, yet there are too few willing workers. This truth challenges me to reach beyond my comfort and bring the message of God’s love to my community and the world. The spiritual need is great, the opportunity is vast, and the time to respond is now.  The “Harvest” is not only about numbers; it is about obedience. It is about seeing people the way Jesus sees them, with compassion, urgency, and hope. When I respond to the call of the “Harvest,” I partner with God’s redemptive work already in motion. I labor not in my own strength, but through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Reflection:
May we answer this call faithfully and labor joyfully in mission and service, trusting that God has already prepared the fields and the hearts we are sent to reach.Where is God calling me to move from apathy to action in this season?Who in my community may be ready to receive encouragement, prayer, or the message of Christ?

Call to Action
✝️Pray and ask God to open your eyes to the “Harvest” around you.
✝️Initiate one intentional act of witness or service today.
✝️Share a word of hope, offer prayer to someone in need.
✝️Labor joyfully, trusting the Holy Spirit to guide your steps.

Pray
Gracious God, thank You for inviting me into Your “Harvest.” Forgive me for moments of hesitation or apathy. Give me courage to move into action, compassion to see as Jesus sees, and joy as I serve. Empower me by Your Holy Spirit to labor faithfully in Your mission. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
