Word For Today – Transformed

Scripture:
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”  2 Corinthians 3:18 ESV

Devotion – The Ongoing Work of Transformation
Today, take time to reflect on what it truly means to be “Transformed.” To be “Transformed” in Christ is a progressive, inner work of change. It is God’s ongoing process of shaping me into the image of Jesus Christ. I thank God for perfecting me in Christ and continuing God’s good work within me.  Through our relationship with Jesus, we are being “Transformed” by the Holy Spirit, moving from one degree of spiritual glory to another and becoming more like Jesus in character. To be “Transformed” is not instant, nor is it superficial. It is the sacred work of God within our hearts, slowly renewing us from the inside out.  To be “Transformed” does not happen through outward behavior alone. To be truly “Transformed” takes place as our hearts and minds are renewed while we intentionally spend time in God’s presence. When we pray, worship, read Scripture, and serve others, we position ourselves to receive the shaping work of the Holy Spirit.

Reflection
During this Lenten season, let us focus on Jesus through Scripture, prayer, worship, mission, and service. As we draw closer to God each day, the Holy Spirit will faithfully guide us, enabling our lives to be “Transformed” to reflect the character of Christ.  What area of your life is the Holy Spirit currently transforming? How can you create more space today for God to renew your heart and mind?
