Word For Today – Anointing
Scripture:
“As for you, the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and so you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.” 1 John 2:27 (ESV)
Title of Devotion – Living in the Power of the Anointing
Today, reflect and thank God for the “Anointing,” the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit that affirms truth, sharpens discernment, strengthens faith, and empowers me to remain steadfast in Christ. When we say “yes” to Jesus, we receive this divine gift of the “Anointing,” just as Jesus promised when Jesus assured us that we would not be left orphaned or alone. The Holy Spirit’s presence within us continually reminds us that we belong to God and are guided by God’s truth. The “Anointing” of the Holy Spirit is not simply a momentary feeling or emotional experience. It is the living presence of God dwelling within us. Through the Holy Spirit, we are taught, guided, and strengthened each day. The “Anointing” helps us discern truth from deception, righteousness from compromise, and God’s voice from the noise of the world. During this Lenten season, we are invited to pause and become more aware of the Holy Spirit’s work within us. The “Anointing” draws us deeper into fellowship with God, reminding us that we are chosen, empowered, and sent as witnesses of Christ’s love and truth. As we abide in Christ, the Holy Spirit continues to guide our steps and shape our lives according to God’s purpose.
Reflection:
May the “Anointing” of the Holy Spirit fall afresh upon us today. May the “Anointing” serve as our internal compass, verifying what is true, exposing what is false, and leading us daily into deeper fellowship with God, in Jesus’ name, confirming that we are God’s witnesses in the world. How is the Holy Spirit guiding your heart today? In what ways can you become more attentive to the “Anointing” of God working within your life?

🙏🏾Thank God for the “Annointing” of the Holy Spirit and for wisdom and discernment.
🙏🏾Ask God to help you recognize truth and to reject anything that is false teachings.

Pray
Gracious and loving God, thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit and the anointing that abides within us through Jesus Christ. Thank You for guiding us in truth, strengthening our faith, and reminding us that we belong to You. During this Lenten season, help us to become more aware of Your presence working in our hearts and minds. May Your Holy Spirit teach us, lead us, and empower us to live faithfully each day. Let Your anointing fall afresh upon us, shaping our lives so that we may reflect Your love, wisdom, and truth in the world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
