Memorial Day Devotion and Reflection

Scripture:  “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you.” Philippians 1:3 ESV.

Today, I Remember. What I grew up calling “Decoration Day” was a sacred tradition, a day set aside to honor the memory of our fallen soldiers and beloved ancestors. Today, I continue that tradition with reverence and reflection.  I make a special visit to a once Black-only cemetery in our community. I pause at the gravesite of my parents. I remember those whose sacrifices paved the way for our freedoms. And above all, I remember that freedom has a price, both in this world and in eternity, for Christ paid the ultimate price for us all. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Let this be a day of remembrance and gratitude. May we never forget those who gave their lives in service, and may we always remember the grace that flows from the cross.  Memorial Day is more than a holiday, it’s a holy moment to look back, give thanks, and lift our hearts in hope. As Resurrection People, we remember with reverence and rejoice in the promise of life eternal.  Whose memory do you carry in your heart today? Pause and say their name. Give thanks. And trust in the One who redeems all our yesterdays.
