Scripture
“The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ?  The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?  Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body,  for we all partake of the one bread.”
1 Corinthians 10:16-17 ESV

Devotion
Today, I count the blessing of Unity in Jesus Christ. The central theme is that through the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper (Communion), all Christians are united as one body in Christ. This unity transcends any differences in background or social standing. In my faith tradition, the United Methodist Church, we practice the open table, welcoming all who desire to share in this holy meal.  This unity also challenges us. In a divided world, communion calls us to embody reconciliation, to live with humility, and to extend God’s grace across barriers. The table is open, the bread is broken, and the cup is shared—not for some, but for all.

Reflection
World Communion Sunday reminds us that God’s table has no boundaries. When we partake of the bread and the cup, we declare our belonging to one another as the body of Christ. This unity is not just symbolic; it is deeply spiritual and transformative. Regardless of denomination, language, culture, or social standing, Christ gathers us together in love.

lCall to Action
🌐Approach the Lord’s Table today with a heart of gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice.
🌐Pray for unity among Christians worldwide.
🌐Extend the love of Christ to someone from a different culture, race, or background.
🌐Reflect on how you can be a witness of unity in your community this week.

Pray
Gracious and Loving God, Thank You for the gift of Communion, where we are reminded of the unity we share in Christ. Help us to see beyond differences and to embrace one another as brothers and sisters in Your family. As we share in the bread and the cup, may we be strengthened to live out Your love, peace, and reconciliation in the world. Unite us in Spirit, Lord, so that through our lives, others may experience the grace of Your open table. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
