Devotion – Living with an Above Mindset
Today I reflect on the word “Above” centering my thoughts on a heavenly and eternal perspective that begins here on earth. To live with an “Above” mindset is to align my thoughts, values, and daily pursuits with God’s promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ while remaining attentive to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Jesus assures us that He is preparing a place for those who belong to Christ. Until that glorious day, we are invited to live each day with our hearts and minds fixed on what is “Above.” This does not mean ignoring the realities of life or neglecting our responsibilities. Rather, it means allowing God’s truth to shape our perspective so that we respond to life’s circumstances with faith instead of fear, hope instead of despair, and love instead of resentment. An “Above” mindset transforms the way we see people, make decisions, and face challenges. As we spend intentional time in God’s presence through prayer, Scripture, and worship, the Holy Spirit renews our thinking and helps us reflect the character of Christ. Our inward focus on God’s kingdom becomes visible through outward acts of compassion, integrity, humility, forgiveness, grace, and kindness. Every conversation, every decision, and every opportunity becomes an invitation to reflect heaven’s values here on earth. As we set our minds on things “Above” we become faithful witnesses of Christ’s love, living each day with eternity in view and bringing glory to God.
Reflection
Today, let us remember that our greatest citizenship is in God’s kingdom kinship. What thoughts, priorities, or distractions are competing for your attention today? Invite the Holy Spirit to lift your focus above temporary concerns and anchor your heart in God’s eternal promises. As your mind is renewed by God’s Word, your life will increasingly reflect the love, hope, peace, and grace of Christ to those around you.
Call to Action
☀️Thank God for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ and an “Above” mindset.
☀️Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you keep your focused on things that are “Above.”
☀️Choose one situation today where you will respond with grace instead of frustration.
☀️Practice kindness and compassion as visible expressions of a heavenly mindset.
☀️Spend time reading God’s Word and allow it to shape your thoughts and decisions.
☀️TEncourage someone today with the hope and peace found in Christ.
Pray
Almighty God, thank You for the gift of this new day and for the eternal hope You have given us through Jesus Christ. Help me to set my mind on things that are Above and not be consumed by the temporary distractions of this world. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, renew my thoughts, strengthen my faith, and shape my heart to reflect Your love, grace, kindness, and compassion. May my words, actions, and decisions honor You and point others toward Your kingdom. Keep my eyes fixed on Christ as I live each day with eternity in view. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
