For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11 ESV
Devotion – Walking Uprightly in God’s Favor
Today, I reflect on what it means to walk “Uprightly” as I prepare to worship in community on this second Sunday of June. I thank God for another day and for the blessing of God’s active protection, God’s presence as the light in my life through Jesus Christ, and the daily guidance of the Holy Spirit. To walk “Uprightly” is to live with integrity, faithfulness, and a sincere desire to honor God in every area of life. It is not about perfection, but about maintaining a heart that seeks God’s will and strives to follow God’s ways. Through Jesus Christ, we are given the example of righteous living, and through the Holy Spirit, we are empowered each day to walk in obedience, wisdom, and love. Psalm 84:11 reminds us that God is both our sun and shield. God illuminates our path and protects us along the journey. God promises to provide everything we need to live “Uprightly” and to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. In that assurance, we find confidence, comfort, and rest. As we gather for worship today, let us remember that walking “Uprightly” positions us to experience God’s favor, honor, and blessing. God withholds no good thing from those who trust God and seek to walk faithfully before God.
Reflection
May our lives reflect the goodness of God and serve as a witness to others of God’s transforming grace. Walking uprightly is a daily choice to trust God, follow Christ’s example, and remain sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. When we choose integrity over compromise and faithfulness over fear, we discover the joy, peace, and favor that come from living in alignment with God’s purpose.
Call to Action

☀️Examine your heart and invite the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas needing renewal.
☀️Choose to walk “Uprightly” in your words, actions, and relationships today.
☀️Trust God to provide what you need to fulfill God’s purpose for your life.
☀️Encourage someone else to remain faithful and steadfast in their walk with God.
☀️Worship with gratitude, knowing God is your sun, shield, and source of strength.
Pray
Gracious and Loving God, thank You for the gift of this new day. Thank You for being our sun and shield, our protector, guide, and provider. Help us to walk uprightly before You with integrity, humility, and faith. Through Jesus Christ, teach us to reflect Your love and truth in all that we do. Fill us with the wisdom and power of the Holy Spirit so that our lives may honor You and bless others. May we walk confidently in Your favor, trusting that You will provide every good thing needed to accomplish Your purpose in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
