Word For Today – Honor
Scripture
“But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15 ESV
Devotion – Honor Christ with Your Life
Today I reflect on the word “Honor” and what it means to live with a purified heart and to be always ready to explain the hope I have in Christ. To “Honor” God in the name of Jesus means setting Christ apart as Lord over every area of my life. It is a daily commitment to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit so that I live with integrity, humility, and distinction, drawing others to Christ through the witness of my words and actions. To “Honor” Christ is more than what we say, it is revealed in how we live. When our hearts are surrendered to God, our conversations become gracious, our attitudes become compassionate, and our responses reflect the character of Jesus. The hope of Christ within us becomes visible to those around us, inviting questions that provide opportunities to share the Good News. The Apostle Peter reminds us that when we speak about our faith, we are to do so with gentleness and respect. We are not called to win arguments but to win hearts. Our witness should never be marked by arrogance, hostility, or pride. Instead, we honor God by demonstrating humility, kindness, and inner peace that point others to the transforming love of Christ.
Reflection
Today, let us “Honor” our faith in Jesus Christ by allowing the Holy Spirit to shape our hearts and guide our words. May our lives consistently reflect the hope we have found in Christ, bringing “Honor” God in every conversation, every relationship, and every opportunity to share our faith. How can my words, attitudes, and actions today reflect the hope of Christ with gentleness, respect, and a heart that honors God?

Pray
Almighty God, thank You for the gift of this new day and for the hope we have through Jesus Christ. Today, we choose to Honor You by setting Christ apart as Lord in our hearts. Purify our hearts through the work of the Holy Spirit, and help us to live with integrity, humility, and love. May our words and actions reflect the hope we have found in You. Give us wisdom and courage to share our faith with gentleness and respect, always bringing glory to Your name. Let our lives become a faithful witness that points others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
