Word For Today – Wait

Scripture
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”  |Isaiah 40:31 ESV

Devotion –  Waiting with Confidence in God’s Perfect Timing
Today I reflect on what it truly means to “Wait” upon the Lord. To “Wait” is not passive inactivity or simply passing the time. Spiritually, to “Wait” is an active posture of faith, trust, and expectation. It is choosing to place my complete confidence in God rather than in my own understanding or timeline.  As I begin this new day and this new week, I surrender my plans, my worries, and my expectations to God. Through Jesus Christ, I trust that God’s timing is always perfect, even when I cannot immediately see what God is doing. While I “Wait” the Holy Spirit continues to guide, strengthen, and prepare me for what lies ahead.  When I “Wait” it is often where spiritual growth takes place. When we wait God deepens our faith, develops our character, and teaches us to depend more fully upon God’s presence than upon immediate answers. As we “Wait” it becomes an  opportunity to draw closer to God through prayer, worship, and obedience.  Isaiah reminds us that those who “Wait” upon the Lord receive renewed strength. God does not simply ask us to endure while waiting; God empowers us. Like eagles soaring on the wind, we are lifted above discouragement and fear. God enables us to run our race without becoming weary and to continue walking faithfully without losing heart.  Today, let us wait with patience and faithful expectation. Let us remain attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and confident that God is working in ways we cannot yet see.

Reflection
As we wait, may we also witness God’s power at work in and through our lives, bringing hope, encouragement, and blessing to everyone we encounter.  Where is God inviting me to trust God’s timing instead of my own?  How can I intentionally wait today with faith, patience, and expectancy rather than frustration or anxiety?  What might God be preparing within me while I wait?
