“He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.” by Psalm 40:2 ESV
Devotion – Secure in God’s Unshakable Foundation
As I prepare for worship in community today, I reflect on the spiritual meaning of being “Secure.” I thank God for the gift of a new day and the comforting assurance that no matter what challenges I face, I am “Secure” in my faith in God, in Jesus’ name, and through the daily guidance of the Holy Spirit. The psalmist reminds us that God draws us out of places of despair, uncertainty, and struggle. When life feels overwhelming, God does not leave us stuck in the mud of fear or discouragement. Instead, God reaches down with love, lifts us up, and places our feet on a firm foundation. Our security is not found in circumstances, possessions, or human strength, it is found in God’s faithful presence. God is our hope, our help, and our shield. No matter how low we may feel, God’s presence has the power to lift us up. God meets us in every place and reminds us that we are never alone. In God, we find strength to rise, courage to continue, and peace to trust the journey ahead.
Reflection
Today, let us rest in the confidence that God is making every step we take “Secure” enabling us to move forward and stand firm, knowing that God is our unshakable foundation of hope and possibilities.Where do you need God’s security in your life today? Consider the areas where fear, uncertainty, or doubt may be trying to take hold. Invite God to strengthen your faith and remind you that your foundation is not shifting circumstances, but the steadfast love and faithfulness of God. When your feet are planted on the Rock, you can face each day with confidence and hope.
Call to Action

Pray
Gracious God, thank You for being my hope, my help, and my shield. Thank You for lifting me from places of fear, doubt, and uncertainty and placing my feet upon the solid rock of Your love. Through Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to trust You completely and walk confidently in the path You have prepared for me. Make my steps secure, strengthen my faith, and remind me daily that I am never alone. May my life reflect the peace and confidence that come from resting in You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
