Scripture:
“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.”  John 13:14 ESV

 Devotion – A Heart That Serves
Today, I embrace the word “Wash” as a sacred act of service. On this Holy or Maundy Thursday, I look to the example of Jesus, who humbly took on the role of a servant to wash the feet of His disciples. Jesus’ actions remind us that true greatness is found in humility and love.  As we reflect on this day, may we reclaim our call to humble service, setting aside pride and choosing to serve others. To “Wash” the feet of others is more than a symbolic act; it is a posture of the heart that puts others first and lives out the compassion of Christ.

Reflection
Let our actions today demonstrate Jesus’ purpose—not to be served, but to serve. May we adopt a “Foot-Washing Mindset,” one that moves beyond ritual into a lifestyle marked by love, sacrifice, and genuine care for others.  Where is God calling me to serve with humility today? Am I willing to lower myself in love so that someone else may be lifted?  How can I embody a “Foot-Washing Mindset” in my daily interactions?

Call to Action
💦Choose one intentional act of humble service today.
💦Offer kindness to someone without expecting anything in return.
💦Release pride and embrace a servant’s heart..
💦Pray for opportunities to serve others in love.
💦Reflect on how Jesus’ example challenges your daily actions.

Pray
Gracious and Loving God, Thank You for the example of Jesus, who showed us the true meaning of humility and service. On this Maundy Thursday, help me to embrace the heart of a servant. Teach me to love without hesitation, to serve without pride, and to give without expecting anything in return.  Lord, wash my heart clean of selfishness and fill me with compassion. Guide my hands and feet to be instruments of Your love. May my life reflect the humility of Christ in all that I do.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
