Word For Today – Hope
Scripture
“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.” Psalm 42:11 ESV
Devotion – Hope When Life Is Not Okay
Today, I reflect on the word “Hope.” I thank God for the “Hope” found in each new day, even when I feel downcast, discouraged, or overwhelmed. God meets us in our honest sadness and reminds us that difficult feelings do not have the final word. In Jesus’ name and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can speak truth to our souls and turn our hearts toward God. When life is not okay, God remains our “Hope” Helper, Savior, and source of strength. As we trust God’s presence, God renews our “Hope” restores our confidence, and gives us grace to keep moving forward.
Reflection
What thoughts or circumstances are weighing heavily on my soul today? Instead of allowing discouragement to speak the loudest, I can remind myself: “Hope in God.” My circumstances may not change immediately, but God is present with me. I can honestly acknowledge how I feel while choosing to trust that God is still working.

In Jesus’ name, quiet the voices of fear, discouragement, and despair. Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts and turn my heart toward the truth of God’s presence and promises.
