Devotion – The Strength Found in Humility
Today I reflect on the spiritual meaning of the word “Humble.” To humble myself in this new day is to give thanks to God, acknowledging my need for God rather than relying on self-sufficiency or pride. Humility is not weakness; it is the recognition that everything I have and everything I am comes from God. It is a daily choice to surrender my plans, my worries, and my desires to the One who knows what is best for my life. I am grateful that Jesus chose to “Humble” Himself, taking on the position of a servant in order to redeem us. Through His example, I learn that true greatness is found in serving, loving, and obeying God. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice and example, I am able each day to experience God’s sovereign glory and be guided by the power of the Holy Spirit. Humility creates space for God to work within us. When we “Humble” ourselves before God, we open our hearts to receive divine wisdom, correction, guidance, and grace. Rather than striving to elevate ourselves, we trust God to lift us up according to God’s perfect will and timing. As we submit our lives and our day to God’s plans and purposes, we can walk forward with confidence, knowing that God honors a humble heart and blesses those who seek Him faithfully.
Reflection
Let each of us “Humble” ourselves today by entering intentional moments of reflection, prayer, and devotion. What areas of my life am I still trying to control on my own? How might God be inviting me to surrender my pride, trust more deeply, and depend upon the guidance of the Holy Spirit today?
Call to Action
🙏🏾”Humble” yourself today, begin with prayer, gratitude, and surrender.
🙏🏾Ask God to reveal any areas where pride may be hindering spiritual growth.
🙏🏾Follow the example of Jesus by serving someone with kindness and humility.
🙏🏾Spend a few moments in quiet reflection, listening for the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
🙏🏾Trust God’s timing rather than striving to elevate yourself.
🙏🏾Practice humility by giving God the glory for every blessing and accomplishment.
Pray
Gracious God, thank You for the gift of this new day. Help me to walk in humility, recognizing my complete dependence upon You. Thank You for the example of Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself and became a servant so that we might know Your love and salvation. Fill me with the power of the Holy Spirit and guide my thoughts, words, and actions today. Teach me to surrender my pride, trust Your wisdom, and faithfully follow Your will. May my life reflect the humility, grace, and love of Christ in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
