The Power of Slowing Down
Scripture
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 ESV
Devotion
Today’s devotion reminds us that God never intended for life to be a constant rush. In our striving to do more, we often miss the simple, sacred moments that truly fill our hearts, laughter with loved ones, a quiet prayer, or the stillness of God’s presence. Jesus calls us to come and rest, not just physically, but spiritually. Sabbath rest is an act of trust. It says, “God, I believe You are in control even when I stop.” .
Reflection
Let today be a reminder that rest is not laziness, it is holy obedience. When we slow down in God’s presence, we make space for peace, for gratitude, and for renewal Take time to breathe deeply, to notice blessings around you, and to find joy in simply being with God.
Call to Action
☀️Pause to take a few deep breaths and rest in the moment.
☀️Reflect, pray about what God is saying to you in the stillness.
☀️Share, write one word that describes how you feel in God’s presence.
☀️Connect, spend time with family, friends, or someone who needs your presence.
Pray
God, thank You for Jesus and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for reminding us that rest is sacred. Teach us to slow down, to find peace in Your presence, and to release the burdens we carry. Help us notice the blessings that surround us, the laughter, the quiet, and the love You’ve placed in our lives. May this day be filled with stillness, joy, and a renewed awareness of Your care. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
