Christmas Eve Blessings in CHRIST
The Christ Candle
Scripture
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” Galatians 4:4–5 (ESV)
Devotion
This Christmas Eve is a holy celebration of Jesus’ birth, shining with the four sacred words we have named throughout Advent: HOPE, PEACE, JOY, and LOVE. Through Christ, redemption and freedom from sin and oppression are revealed. These truths are beautifully echoed in the hymn O Holy Night, which captures the world’s longing for a Savior, the JOY of Jesus’ birth, and the transforming power of His teaching.
Reflection
In our faith gatherings, the Christ Candle is lit as a call to worship—recognizing Christ as Lord and proclaiming the breaking of chains of sin and hopelessness for all people. The light of Christ declares that darkness does not have the final word. Jesus came at the perfect time to redeem us.
Call to Action
🙏🏾Reflect on the gift of Christ’s birth.
🙏🏾“Fall on your knees,” recognizing Christ’s power and glory.
🙏🏾Praise God as you prepare to celebrate Christmas Day.
Pray
Gracious God, on this holy night, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the Light of the world. As we behold the Christ Candle, remind us that in Him we find hope for the weary, peace for the troubled, joy for the longing heart, and love that redeems and restores. Help us to bow in reverence, praise His holy name, and live as bearers of His light in a world that needs You. Prepare our hearts to celebrate the miracle of Christmas with gratitude and awe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
