“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6 ESV
Devotion
Today, on this holy Christmas Day, I reflect on the prophetic names of Jesus and the divine purpose of His birth. Long before the manger, Jesus was foretold as the promised Messiah, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Each name reveals the fullness of God’s perfect gift to the world. Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor, offering divine wisdom and guidance in every season of life. He is Mighty God, victorious over sin, darkness, and death. As Everlasting Father, He brings eternal life, security, and unfailing love. As the Prince of Peace, He restores hearts and reconciles humanity to God, bringing true peace to a world once walking in darkness.
Reflection
Through Christ, God’s hope for humanity is fulfilled. Christmas is not merely a moment in history—it is the revelation of God’s redemptive love made flesh, dwelling among us, and inviting us into new life.Which name of Jesus do you most need to lean into today—Counselor, Strength, Fatherly care, or Peace? Pause and let the meaning of His name meet you where you are.

Gracious and Loving God, Thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for sending the Wonderful Counselor to guide us, the Mighty God to save us, the Everlasting Father to hold us, and the Prince of Peace to restore us. On this Christmas Day, we rejoice in Your fulfilled promises and the hope You have given the world. Fill our hearts with joy, gratitude, and peace, and help us share Your light with others. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
