The Word For Today – PEACE

Scripture
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” — John 14:27 (ESV)

Devotion – Living in Christ’s Peace
On this first Sunday of 2026, I reflect on the legacy of Peace that Christ has given me, and what I am called to do with the understanding and daily practice of that Peace. Jesus offers God’s followers and witnesses an inner, lasting peace, Shalom, that is different from the temporary, conditional peace the world offers. Because Christ was born the Prince of Peace, we are urged not to be afraid or troubled.

Reflection
Christ sent the Holy Spirit as our Comforter, providing divine tranquility that transcends every circumstance of life. “Let not your hearts be troubled” is both an instruction and a promise, an invitation to overcome fear and anxiety through trust and belief. As we step into 2026, we do so assured that God is with us and remains steady, faithful, and present through the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, New Year’s blessings.  Where do I need to move from worry to trust this year? How can I intentionally practice Christ’s peace, choosing faith over fear and presence over anxiety, each day?

Call to Action
💖Pause and receive Christ’s Peace in prayer today.
💖Release fear and anxiety to the Holy Spirit.
💖Practice peace intentionally in your words and actions.
💖Choose faith over fear as you step into 2026.

Pray
Prince of Peace, thank You for the gift of kind of  Peace. Your Peace passes all understanding. I receive the Peace You freely give, not as the world gives, but as only You can. Guard my heart and mind through the Holy Spirit. Help me to live, speak, and share Your Peace with Faith and Confidence throughout this new year. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
