Devotion – Committing Our Way to the Lord

Devotion:
Today, I reflect on what it truly means to “Commit” to God’s ways. To “Commit” means willingly placing my plans, desires, and anxieties into God’s hands, choosing trust over control. This act of surrender is itself an act of worship, declaring that I believe in God’s perfect character and timing, even when circumstances are unclear or difficult.  When we “Commit” to the Lord, we “roll” our burdens onto God, trusting that God is working all things together for our good in Jesus’ name. Rather than carrying the weight of every decision or worrying about what tomorrow may bring, we learn to rest in the assurance that God is already at work on our behalf. To “Commit” to God is not passive; it is a daily, intentional act of faith.  Whenever we are tempted to worry about the future, we can pause and say, “I commit and trust the Lord.” This simple declaration shifts our heart from self-reliance to full dependence on God. Through this act of surrender, our faith deepens and our perspective changes. What once felt overwhelming becomes an opportunity to trust God more deeply.

Reflection
During this Lenten season, may we each choose to “Commit” to God in our daily decisions, listening closely for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Through this daily practice of surrender, we open ourselves to the peace, direction, and purpose found only in God’s will.What areas of your life are you still trying to control rather than committing to God? How might your heart and mind change if you intentionally placed those concerns into God’s hands today?

Call to Action
🙏🏾Pray and intentionally “Commit” to give worry or concern to God today.
🙏🏾When anxious, repeat the declaration: “I commit and trust the Lord.”
🙏🏾Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions throughout the day.
🙏🏾Reflect on how trusting God changed your perspective or response.

Pray
Gracious and faithful God, I come before you today with a heart that desires to trust you more fully. Teach me what it truly means to commit my way to you. When I am tempted to hold tightly to my plans, remind me that your wisdom and timing are perfect. Help me to roll my worries, fears, and uncertainties onto you, trusting that you are working all things together for good.  Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts, decisions, and actions today so that they align with your will. Strengthen my faith so that I may walk forward with confidence, knowing that you are leading the way. May my life reflect the peace and assurance that comes from trusting you completely. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
