 Word For Today – Rejoice

Scripture
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice.”  Philippians 4:4 ESV

Devotion – Choosing Joy in Every Season
Today I reflect on the meaning of “Rejoice.” I choose to “Rejoice” even in challenging situations, to lift my spirit and draw strength from God in Jesus’ name rather than giving in to fear. When we “Rejoice” we experience the continual presence of God, God’s favor, sovereignty, and love, no matter what we face.  Choosing to “Rejoice” in God’s peace instead of engaging in selfish disputes helps us fix our hearts on hope.  When we “Rejoice” it shifts our hearts from complaining to gratitude and praise. Instead of  allowing circumstances to control our emotions, we choose to “Rejoice” in faith, thanksgiving, and trust in God’s promises.

Reflection
During this Lenten season, let us “Rejoice” as a testimony that our God is a God of joy. This joy gives us freedom to live fully in God’s grace, in Jesus’ name, when we choose to “Rejoice” in the Lord. Rejoicing is not about denying life’s difficulties; it is about remembering that God’s presence is greater than any challenge we face. When we intentionally choose joy, we open our hearts to experience God’s peace, strength, and sustaining grace.

Gracious and loving God, Thank You for the gift of joy that comes through our relationship with Jesus Christ. Teach us to rejoice in every season, trusting that You are present and working in all circumstances. When challenges arise, remind us to lift our hearts in praise rather than fear. Fill us with Your peace, strengthen our faith, and help us live as witnesses of Your joy in the world. May our lives reflect gratitude, hope, and unwavering trust in You.  In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
