The Word For Today – Power
Scripture
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”|
Acts 1:8 ESV
Devotion – Empowered by the Holy Spirit
Today is Pentecost Sunday, and I reflect on the promise Jesus made, and fulfilled, that we would receive “Power.” As I prepare to worship in community, I do so with thanksgiving, embracing this new day with the awareness that in Christ, I have been given the power to share and invite others into a personal relationship with God, in Jesus’ name, wherever I go. Pentecost reminds us that although Jesus ascended in bodily form, He did not leave us without help. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, God’s presence continues among us, empowering ordinary people to do extraordinary things for God’s glory. This “Power” is not rooted in human strength, status, or ability, but in the Spirit of God working in, through, and with us each day. May we remain open to receive and actively use the “Power” of the Holy Spirit as a catalyst for good, today, every day, and everywhere we go.
Reflection
The Holy Spirit equips us to witness, serve, encourage, love, and stand boldly in faith. Wherever we go, at home, in worship, in our communities, and in our daily interactions, we carry the presence and power of God with us.Where do I need to rely more fully on the “Power” of the Holy Spirit rather than my own strength? How is God calling me to be a witness of Christ’s love and grace today?
Call to Action
🕊️Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts, words, and actions today.

Pray
Holy Spirit, thank You for the gift of Power promised through Jesus Christ. On this Pentecost Sunday, fill me anew with Your presence and guide my heart, mind, and spirit. Empower me to live boldly, love faithfully, and witness courageously wherever I go. Help me to trust Your strength more than my own and to be a vessel of hope, compassion, and transformation for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
