“But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”

Devotion – Lifted by God’s Glory
Today I reflect on the meaning of God as my “Glory” in Jesus’ name. As I prepare for worship in community, I find comfort in God’s “Glory,” protection, and experience greater confidence in God with each new day, guided by the promptings of the Holy Spirit. God’s Glory is more than brilliance or majesty; it is the living presence of God that surrounds, strengthens, and sustains us. Psalm 3 reminds us that God is our shield, our “Glory” and the lifter of our heads. When life feels uncertain, discouraging, or heavy, God’s Glory becomes our covering and our confidence. Too often, we seek identity in accomplishments, approval, or circumstances that can quickly change. Yet our truest identity is found not in worldly recognition but in God’s Glory, power, love, and hope. Through Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we are reminded that God remains faithful to provide protection, direction, and help in every season.
Reflection
As we gather for worship and move through this day, let us trust God fully. God’s Glory surrounds us, lifts our spirits, and reminds us that we are never alone. Where am I seeking affirmation or security outside of God’s Glory? How might trusting God more fully lift my head and renew my confidence today?
Call to Action
☀️Thank God for being your “Glory, shield, protector, lifter of your head.
☀️Reflect on where your identity is rooted and choose to place it in God’s “Glory.”
☀️Listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit throughout the day.
☀️Worship daily, living with confidence, trusting God to provide help and guide.
☀️Encourage someone today by reminding them that God is their lifter and hope.
Pray
Gracious God, in Jesus’ name, I thank You for being my shield, my Glory, and the lifter of my head. Help me to place my identity not in the changing things of this world but in Your unchanging love and presence. Guide me by the Holy Spirit and strengthen my confidence in You. Surround me with Your protection, fill me with Your peace, and help me to reflect Your Glory wherever I go today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
