Word For Today – Calmed

Scripture
“But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.”  Psalm 131:2 ESV

Devotion – Calmed, Resting in God’s Peace
Today I reflect on the spiritual meaning of a “Calmed” soul. As this new month begins, I thank God for a “Calmed” soul anchored in God, resting in peace and surrendered trust. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I am grateful for a restful relationship with God that quiets anxious thoughts and nurtures my spirit with divine assurance.  A “Calmed” soul is not the absence of challenges but the presence of God within them. Like a child safely resting with its mother or guardian, my soul finds comfort, contentment, and security in God’s nurturing presence. Let us be “Calmed” and discover true peace by humbly choosing daily prayer and reflection in God’s presence, leading us toward acts of peace, compassion, and caring. Release it all to God.

Reflection
When life becomes hurried or uncertain, God invites me to pause, pray, and release every burden into God’s capable hands. What am I holding onto today that God is inviting me to release? How might choosing a “Calmed” soul help me become an instrument of peace and caring toward others?

Call to Action
Begin this new month with a few quiet moments in God’s presence.
Release worries, fears, and burdens to God through prayer.
Invite the Holy Spirit to calm and guide your thoughts and actions.
Choose  “Calmed” peace-filled responses and acts of caring today.
Rest in the assurance that God is nurturing and sustaining your soul.

Pray
Gracious and loving God, thank You for the gift of a “Calmed” soul. As this new month begins, quiet my anxious thoughts and anchor me in Your peace. Through Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, help me to rest in surrendered trust and contentment in Your nurturing presence. Teach me to release every burden to You and to live today as an instrument of peace, compassion, and caring. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
