Word For Today – Children
Scripture
“This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.” Romans 9:8 ESV
Devotion – Living as God’s Children of the Promise
Today I reflect on the word “Children” and what it truly means to be one of God’s “Children.” I thank God for Jesus Christ and for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who continually affirms that I belong to God’s spiritual family, chosen and adopted by God’s grace. Through faith in Christ, I receive God’s promises and walk with the confidence that I am loved, accepted, and secure in God’s care. Being God’s “Children” is more than a title, it is an identity that shapes how we live each day. We are invited to trust our Heavenly Father completely, knowing that God’s love is steadfast, God’s mercy is new every morning, and God’s promises never fail. Through the daily work of the Holy Spirit, we are strengthened to reflect God’s character in our words, actions, and relationships. As “Children” of God, let us intentionally choose praise over panic today. May we live with joyful confidence, knowing that we are heirs of God’s grace and ambassadors of God’s love wherever we go.
Reflection
Let us seek refuge in God, trusting that God knows our needs before we ask and is always present with us. We are not defined by fear, failure, or the limitations of the flesh. Instead, we are defined by God’s promise fulfilled through Jesus Christ.Take a moment today to remember whose you are. As one of God’s beloved “Children” you are never forgotten, never abandoned, and never outside of God’s loving care. Allow the Holy Spirit to remind you that your identity is rooted not in your circumstances but in God’s unchanging promise. Walk today with peace, confidence, and gratitude, knowing that you belong to God.
Call to Action
☀️Choose praise as one of God’s “Children” instead of panic in everytoday.
☀️Thank God for adopting you into God’s spiritual family through Jesus Christ.
☀️Trust the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions and strengthen your faith.
☀️Encourage someone today by reminding them of God’s faithful promises.
☀️Live as a joyful reflection of God’s love, grace, and hope.
Pray
Gracious God, thank You for calling me Your child through the saving work of Jesus Christ. Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, who reminds me each day that I belong to You. Help me to live with confidence in Your promises rather than fear of my circumstances. Teach me to choose praise over panic, faith over doubt, and love over fear. May my life reflect the joy, peace, and hope of being one of Your beloved Children. Use me today to share Your love with others and to glorify You in all that I do. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
