Word For Today – Hope
Scripture
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13 ESV
Devotion – Overflowing With Hope
Today, I reflect on the word “Hope.” God is my overflowing “Hope” filling me with joy and peace as I enter this new day in the name of Jesus and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. God is the source of all “Hope.” Our “Hope” is not dependent upon circumstances being perfect, every question being answered, or every problem being resolved. Our “Hope” is rooted in who God is. Because God is faithful, we can face today with confidence, knowing that God is already present in everything that lies ahead. Romans 15:13 reminds us that when we trust in God, God fills us with joy and peace. This does not mean that we will never experience disappointment, uncertainty, or difficulty. It means that even in the midst of life’s challenges, the Holy Spirit gives us a confident expectation that God is still working, God is still leading, and God is still faithful. Let us begin this day with gratitude and rest in the overflowing “Hope” found in Christ. Instead of allowing yesterday’s disappointments to determine today’s expectations, let us believe that God can still open doors, restore relationships, renew our strength, provide new opportunities, and lead us into possibilities we have not yet imagined. Today, let us walk in “Hope.” Let us speak “Hope.” Let us share “Hope.” And by the power of the Holy Spirit, let us abound in overflowing “Hope.”
Reflection
Hope does not deny what we see. Hope trusts God for what we cannot yet see. Where do I need God’s Hope to fill me with renewed joy and peace today? Consider, who might God place in my path today who needs the Hope within me to overflow into their life?
Call to Action
🌄Begin with gratitude. Thank God for the gift of this new day and for the “Hope.”
🌄Choose “Hope.” When negative thoughts arise, remember God has the final word.
🌄Trust the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and decisions today.
🌄Speak “Hope.” Encourage someone who may be struggling or uncertain.
🌄Expect God to move. Look for signs of God’s presence and provision.
🌄Let “Hope” overflow. Be intentional in sharing the joy, peace, kindness, and love.
Pray
God of Hope, thank You for the blessing of this new day. In the name of Jesus, I place my trust in You. Fill me with Your joy and peace as I believe Your promises and follow Your direction. Holy Spirit, guide me today. When I encounter uncertainty, replace my worry with faith. When discouragement tries to settle in my heart, remind me that my Hope is firmly rooted in Christ. Help me to trust that You are working even when I cannot yet see what You are doing. Lord, let Your Hope overflow within me. May it be reflected in my words, my attitude, my decisions, and the way I treat others. Use me to encourage someone who needs renewed strength today. May I walk confidently into this day believing that You are with me, You are for me, and You are already preparing the way before me. May I overflow in Hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
