Word For Today – Chosen
Scripture
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.” Colossians 3:12 ESV
Devotion – Chosen to Reflect Christ
Today, I reflect on the word “Chosen.” As one of God’s “Chosen” I seek to live each day as an example of Jesus Christ, intentionally embracing Christlike character as my identity. When we say yes to following Christ, we become part of God’s “Chosen” people, set apart for God’s purposes and deeply loved by God. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can release old and harmful behaviors and clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and love. May our outward actions reflect the inward transformation that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
Reflection
Being “Chosen” is more than receiving an identity; it is accepting a calling. God’s love transforms how we see ourselves and how we treat others. Each day gives us another opportunity to “put on” the character of Christ so that others can experience His love through us.
Call to Action
✝️Remember your identity: You are “Chosen” holy, and deeply loved by God.
✝️Release the old: Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal positive attitudes or behaviors.
✝️Practice compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience today.
✝️Reflect Jesus: Demonstrate the transformation taking place within you.
Pray
Gracious God, thank You for choosing me, loving me, and setting me apart for Your purposes. In Jesus’ name, help me live today with the confidence of knowing that my identity is rooted in You. Through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, help me release attitudes, habits, and behaviors that do not reflect Christ. Clothe me with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, and above all, love. May the transformation You are accomplishing within my heart become visible through my words, actions, and relationships. Use my life as an example of Your grace so that others may see Jesus through me. Thank You for reminding me that I am Chosen, holy, beloved, and called to live for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
